In June at the 120th GFWC International Convention in Milwaukee a new project for Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention was introduced. It is a GFWC Sock Project called “Step Away From Abuse”.
Members are being asked to work with Domestic Violence Shelters in your local community.

This is an easy project that all your club members can take part in.
Your “Signature Project” chairman could start the project by giving each member a quart size plastic zip lock baggie with the personalized label for your club affixed on the outside – members would be asked to donate a new pair of socks.

Another GFWC Project is to join the Prevent Child Abuse America – “House Party Weekend” – We’ve designated Oct. 14-16 as the weekend for people across the country to host parties supporting children. The goal is to raise $30,000.00 by the end of the weekend and the great news is, through game watches, brunches and dinner parties, we’re already a quarter of the way there! Please help us reach our goal by hosting a party, attending a party or holding a virtual party online.

Visit www.housepartyweekend.org for more details. A tool kit will help you decide on a party idea, fundraising goal and more. You can also go to www.preventchildabuse.org to learn more.

You can also take part, again this year, in the collection of PJ for the GFWC PJ Party.  PJs can be given to Women’s Shelters in your area for “Make a Difference Day” – Oct. 22, 2011.
