State Chairman: Gerri Strege R.O.A.R. in ACT in Oct Are you ready to R.O.A.R.? ‘Recruit’ – Our clubs are only as good as the new members we bring to join us. Set a club goal to increase your membership by 10%. The best way to recruit new members is to ask all the women you come in contact with (baby-sitter, hair-dresser, bank teller, check out gal, your aerobics instructor, or the new gal in your Sunday School class) to come to a meeting OR hold a recruiting event – a tea, ice cream social, wine tasting, spa party, play date, etc…. October is the month that we celebrate recruiting new members. ‘Act in OCT’ – challenges each and every club to reach out and recruit new members. We want to hear from all our GFWC-WI clubs on your special Act in Oct activities. Send them to me – I will recognize your club and I will share your great ideas with everyone. ‘Orient’ – in the corporate world it’s referred to as “on-boarding” – getting new folks on-board in the organization - active and engaged as soon as possible. Orientation is an important step to making sure that our new members feel comfortable with our clubs’ policies, procedures, and culture. Assign every new member a mentor, a meeting buddy, or a “Big Sis” to acquaint them with who we are and how things work. ‘Retain’ – Our members are our most important asset. Every members needs to feel appreciated and important. Recognize them for their time and talent. Thank them for giving the most important things that they have – their time, talent and tears. Everyone likes to hear the sound of their own name – in your meetings, in your newsletters and on your websites – tell them how much you appreciate their contribution.
